Summer School (Flyer)
Enrolment for the Summer School will be open from the 5th April 2024, and the deadline for application is the 15th May 2024 (not extendable deadline). Applicants will be asked to provide a brief description of their research, and a short abstract of the work they would like to present (templete).
The school will be limited to 40 participants. Preference will be given to PhD students carrying out research in topics related to the theme of the school, and with a strong motivation to attend. The registration fee of €40 will include participation to the sessions (coffee break and light lunch included), course materials and social dinner.

Venue
The conference will be hosted at the Monastero dei Benedettini di San Nicolò l’Arena, in Catania, piazza Dante, 32. The venue is a historical monument: a 16th century Benedictine monastery, it survived the 1669 Mt Etna Eruption, was rebuilt after the 1693 earthquake, and it is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, hosting part of the University of Catania.Travel

You can reach Catania by plane, flying to either the Aeroporto di Catania-Fontanarossa “Vincenzo Bellini” (CTA) or Aeroporto di Comiso “Pio La Torre” (CIY).
Optional connecting flights: from Rome-Fiumicino (FCO), Milan-Malpensa (MXP) Milan-Linate (LIN).
From the airport to the main venue
If you land at Comiso (CIY), there are busses to Catania airport (CTA), with fare starting at 6€.
The airport of Catania is connected to the city center with the Alibus shuttle bus, departing every 15 minutes. Tickets are € 4.00, payable in cash or by debit and credit cards on the bus itself. The shuttle has a circular route, the closest stop to the Monastero dei Benedettini is in Piazza Stesicoro, a 15min walk from the Monastero (down along Via Etnea, turn right at Piazza Quattro Canti, up along Via di San Giuliano, turn left into Piazza Dante, where the monastery is). The same shuttle can also take you back to the airport.
By taxi, the daytime fare from the Airport to Piazza Dante is €20.
